Rugby

Rugby is a contact team sport that originated in England in the early 19th century. It is played with an oval-shaped ball and involves two teams, typically consisting of 15 players each in Rugby Union and 13 players in Rugby League. The primary objective of the game is to score points by carrying the ball over the opposing team’s goal line or kicking it through their goalposts. Rugby is known for its physicality, strategy, and continuous play, with minimal stoppages.

The sport has various formats, including Rugby Union, Rugby League, Sevens, and touch rugby, each with its own set of rules and gameplay styles. Matches are played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with distinct areas such as the in-goal areas and try lines. Points can be scored in several ways, including tries (the main method of scoring), conversions, penalty kicks, and drop goals.

Rugby has a strong global following and is governed by various international bodies, notably World Rugby, which oversees Rugby Union and its international competitions, including the Rugby World Cup. It emphasizes teamwork, discipline, and respect among players, coaches, and officials.
